Deanne and Jake were married the first weekend in May and amazingly the weather held out for us!! When I got home that night, there were puddles everywhere, but not a drop fell on us in Kingston, MA!
This wedding was the official kick-off to my 2011 wedding season and I couldn’t wait for it!! Deanne and Jake were fantastic planners and had booked me over a year ago…in the meantime, we had gotten a chance to know each other at their engagement session and I absolutely fell in love with them! When we met up at the salon, Deanne’s family and friends did not disappoint me…they were as fabulous as Deanne!
While I was at the salon, my second shooter Melissa Coe, was with the guys while they hung out and began to get ready!
Jake had gotten his guys the best shoes! I thought they looked cool from the front (and back!) but was amazed that they were also personalized!
After the salon, we headed back to Deanne’s mother’s house for make-up and dress time…Her house had been recently remodeled and looked FABULOUS…I honestly thought that she had brought in an interior decorator, but she had actually picked out the furnishings and decor herself!
Her girls helped her with her dress and accessories…
and then we headed outside for some pre-formals….and that is where the real fun began!
While taking pictures, Deanne’s sister received a good luck charm…a bird actually pooped right on her! As soon as she felt the droplets, she asked, “Did I just get pooped on?” and it sent Deanne into hysterics, which caused a chain reaction!! I never actually got a close up picture of the poop because I was too busy laughing and then getting it off of her! Luckily, only a little landed on her dress…but unluckily a bit landed on her face! All of Deanne’s family have fantastic heart-felt laughs, but I have to give the grand prize to her mom…She is the sweetest and most genuine person and has THE best laugh to boot! She is so much fun!!
In a safer yard, the boys were doing some pre-formals at the same time with Melissa!
The ceremony comes next, of course!
Deanne’s brother walked her down the isle and did a great job!
Loved the shoe detail…
At the end of the ceremony, there were military honors…Something Deanne and Jake were really looking forward to!
Then they were whisked away to their reception site to begin their pictures! It was really tight timing, but we managed to get it all done!
We started with a few pictures of Deanne and Jake while we waited for all of the family and bridal party to arrive….Here are a few of my favorites!
I LOVE this one…it reminds me of Pop-eye!!
After pictures, the reception began with the first dance. It was my first time shooting at Jones River Trading and I have to say that it is such a fun and unique location!
and then into the speeches. Jake’s best man, his father, spoke first. Deanne’s maid-of-honor, her sister, spoken next.
Deanne’s sister had written a poem for her speech and in my humble opinion, it was one of the best maid-of-honor speeches that I have heard!
We squeezed in a group shot…
and then the fun began!
The evening wrapped up with a final dance.
Deanne and Jake – congratulations! You are a fantastic couple….so kind and caring and fun to be around! I wish you the best in your new life together…whereever it lands you!

What was the most memorable moment of your day?
My most memorable moment of the day was when the church doors opened the bridal music started and i started walking down the isle, looking at Jake as i walked down the isle is something i will never forget!
Jakes favorite moment was seeing me walk down the isle.
What was your favorite detail?
The military honors was an amazing detail– and for it to be done in the church for everyone to watch was great!
Any advice for future brides/grooms?
a long engagement is great for planning– i def. had a great pick of AWESOME vendors and it truly is because i had a year and a 1/2 to plan, i started planning immediatly and then had plenty of time off. With that said– there were times at the end where i def wish we eloped– until the day came though, all the details came together so beautifully and i wouldnt have changed one thing about it! (also– i do not recommend working full time, going to to school nights and weekend and trying to plan a wedding… just from personal experience)
Jakes advice= the bride is always right.
Funniest memory from your wedding day?
The bird pooped on my sister while we were taking photos! that was the best laugh!
jakes funny moment was when the deacon joked with him about GAME OVER written on his shoes
If you could do it all over, would you change anything?
Planning a wedding is a lot to take on- i do not recommend taking on a lot at the same time. If i wasnt going to school it would have been easier. But at least now i know i can handle a lot at once 🙂
other than that— our day was perfect! the planning process was great- found amazing vendors within the first 3 months of the engagement.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Disney World, Orlando Florida. Stayed at Shades of Green- went to Discovery Cove, all Disney Parks, Universal, and Sea World. Disney def. knows how to treat you great when you are celebrating!
(The last section will be something new that I will be adding to my wedding previews – a little something from the bride and groom themselves! A big thank you to Bobbi+Mike for lending us the idea – their workshop was fantastic!)
