Last week, on a beautiful and warm evening, I met Emma and Dylan in Boston for their engagement session! While Dylan and I waited for Emma to arrive, we had a great conversation – ranging from everything from planning trips, to Harry Potter to photography talk – it was fabulous! I don’t usually get to have that chunk of time for just pure chatting (especially with the groom), and I loved it! These are two of the sweetest people I have met and they are fantastic in front of the camera:) Just like two models:)!!
Take a peek at our time together!
Emma and Dylan – I can’t wait to work with the two of you again next August:) It will be here before you know it!

How did he propose | Dylan proposed at the sunrise on the top of Haleakala Mountain in Hawaii. He started planning this trip well ahead of time, just 6 months after we met each other. I didn’t expect the proposal would happen on that trip but I was already 100% sure that I would absolutely say yes. He surprised me that he proposed on the first day at the first stop. We were headed to the mountain for sunrise in the dark around 4 am. We saw the full moon and millions of stars in the sky while driving to the top. We had a lot of cheerful conversations in the car with the vacation mode turned on! After we parked the car, he was rushing me to run and didn’t want me to do a quick makeup. I can tell he was getting nervous but I still had no clue at that moment (now I understand that he was afraid of missing the sunrise and time to set up). I insisted to do a 5 min makeup and he surrendered. He ran to find a good spot and came back grabbing me. We got to a little higher spot, away from the most crowds and with a better view. He set up the camera on a tripod saying he wanted to video tape the sunrise. At the moment the sun popped out, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He had the entire proposal and stunning sunrise taped! A few months prior to this trip, he asked what type of proposal i would like, and i told him I like it to be documented (a hint for videotaping, and he got it!). Looking back to that day, I realized that he did a lot of subtle arrangements to make that moment perfect. And it turned out to be absolutely perfect. He was very nervous, which I can tell from his shaking voice and hands. But that was the beauty of taking the courage to ask a girl to marry him. Later on, I knew he had planned a few other places during that 8-day trip and he wanted to propose spontaneously whenever he felt right. I’m glad he felt it at the first place we went 🙂
