kim & dave | wedding at The Casino Building, Roger Williams Park

You may recognize Kim and Dave – it was not too long ago that their engagement session was up here on the blog! You may also recognize Kim from her twin sister Kristen’s wedding back in 2010! Let me just stress how excited I was, when I saw the inquiry come in from Kim for her wedding! I was SO excited to get the opportunity to photograph her wedding AND to be back with the Degirolamo family:)! They are AWESOME!! It turns out that I also knew her fiancé Dave’s family a bit too!! I went to school with his older sisters:)!

Kim and Dave’s day couldn’t have been more perfect. From start to finish, everything went so smoothly and they had THE. BEST. LIGHT. for their “formals” time…a photographer’s heaven:)!!

undefinedundefinedThe Degirolamo girls and mom helped Kim into her dress.undefinedundefinedWhen we did Kristen’s wedding we had such fantastic pictures of her getting ready. They had a gorgeous mirror set up downstairs then AND this time around, they had a different vintage mirror, equally as cool! Pure love:)!undefinedKristen delivered a special surprise from Dave and it was almost a de-ja-vu moment from Scott to Kristen!

At Kim and Dave’s house, Kath Connerton, my friend and fellow photographer, helped out with the second shooter duties! She captured the guys just hanging out and getting ready, and she did some pictures of them together before heading to the church with them….thanks so much Kath:)!!undefined

I love having a second shooter for this moment!undefinedThe priest decided to do an impromptu first kiss right after the parents helped light the unity candle!undefinedundefinedundefinedThis church is walking distance from my house and it was the first time that I have had a chance to photograph it! It is a beautiful church!undefinedWhen I follow the limo’s/trolley’s, I like to take a few pictures from my car! The one on the left is us heading to Roger William’s and the one on the right was taken just before they got off!undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedAfter this next shot, the bridal party got to head to cocktail hour and we finished up with the just the three of us:)!undefinedundefinedTHIS is my new prop!! Kim bought this for her day and I absolutely loved it!! We used it for a bunch of pictures of the new mr. & mrs. and at the end of the night, Kim kindly told me to keep it:)! So excited!!

Bride/Groom Questions

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

Not to sound too cliche or cringy, but the most memorable moment of the day was the second Dave came into focus in the church.  My vision isn’t spectacular and to avoid squinty-eyes in photos I looked straight ahead in Dave’s direction until I was about a quarter way down the aisle.  Finally I could see him looking at me. It was a pretty amazing feeling.

What was your favorite detail?

The Candy Buffet of course!

Any advice for future brides/grooms?

Take a time out at some point during the reception. Just you and your groom.  Step outside, or away from everything even if it is just for a couple minutes and take everything in. You spend a year or more planning this big day celebrating the two of you and the night goes by in seconds, pulling the two of you in several different directions. Taking a time out gave us a chance to reflect and talk for a few seconds before we got back to the whirlwind of the party.

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

As the trolley pulled into Roger Williams Park, we were planning to take some formal photos in the Rose Garden, which just so happened to be occupied by other guests.  I sent my beautiful maid of honor – twin sister Kristen over to the Security Guard to inform him that I, the bride have a permit specifically for the Rose Garden Grounds for photography purposes.  Within seconds the other party was cleared out. Crisis diverted. Hilarious now. Not so hilarious at the time.

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Not a thing! We had such a perfect day.  Better than I could have imagined or dreamed!  Of course that was all because of the amazing people that helped the dream come true. Family (Mother!), Alicia from Russel Morins, Heather, Patrick (dj), and so many more!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We haven’t left yet!!  Wanted to wait for Dave to finish his school year.  Aruba-bound in July!
