Sarah & Guy | Wachusett Village Inn, Westminster, Ma

This next wedding is close to my heart…The bride, Sarah, and I met in 5th grade in Mrs. Hoyle’s class and we immediately bonded while we helped our teacher (we were definitely teacher’s pets!!).  Although we remained friends through high-school, we lost touch during the college years…fast forward a few years (haha!) and we were able to reconnect on Facebook! Sarah became a “fan” of my work and when she got engaged, I got the call!  I am so happy that this job allowed me to be part of her special day!

Sarah and Guy’s HOT day started and finished at the Wachusett Village Inn, in Westminster, MA. I arrived just when Sarah was about to get into the chair to start her hair. I love this time of the day because it is just FUN. Everyone is calm and relaxed and hanging out while they are getting ready! I get to know the girls a little bit before I dive into directing them for posed picture time!

undefinedundefinedWe took a ton of “detail” pictures, but this one stood out! For those of you that know Sarah on Facebook, you will recognize this tank-top! It has been her profile picture lately!undefinedThis next picture is one of the details bought by Sarah’s mom (I believe!)…a perfect touch of Harley for Sarah’s Harley “Guy”!undefinedI have had such a hard time choosing pictures for my previews lately!! There are always so many that I like and I have a hard time narrowing it down! Sarah’s getting ready pictures are no exception…Here are the handful that I finally decided on!undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedTHE shoes…Sarah talks about them below! undefinedThis is a definite favorite! I love all of the colors and their expressions!undefinedAfter I spent some time with the girls outdoors, they headed in to refresh and I met up with the guys! undefinedundefinedAfter a few minutes of standing in this semi-circle, the guys came up with a game of rock-paper-scissors…undefinedAs Sarah mentions below, the walk up the isle was an emotional one for her…happy tear were flowing and continued to flow occasionally during the ceremony!undefinedundefinedundefinedThe wooden box, below, was a first for me! Sarah and Guy wrote letters to each other that they placed in the box. During the ceremony, they each hammered the box shut and were instructed to crack it open and refer back to their love letters if they ever hit a bumpy road in the future…undefinedundefinedThe whole group…undefinedSarah’s gift to Guy…undefinedSarah had a short window for cocktail hour, but we were still able to grab a bunch of great pictures of their families, bridal party and of course, the two of them!undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedThe cake and cutting utensils also had a touch of Harley…undefinedAfter Sarah and Guy were announced, the bridal party kicked off the night with a bit of Pitbull…any song that includes Pitbull is a favorite in my book!undefinedundefinedSarah and Guy then shared their first dance…undefinedundefinedSarah’s sister Julie and Guy’s nephew Paul (or Jr. as I tended to call him throughout the day – so sorry Paul if you are reading this!), gave the toasts!undefinedundefinedThe next handful of pictures include Sarah’s newphew – I made it a goal to get a few pictures of him throughout the night because it had been a long time since his mother Julie had had the opportunity…A new addition will be coming to their family soon and I wish them all the best!undefinedHugging his grandma and playing a bit with his Auntie Kelly!undefinedAfter the cake cutting, Sarah surprised her mother with a mother/daughter dance. She compiled a play list that started slow for just the two of them, and then sped up so that all of her sister’s could join in…it was great!undefinedundefinedThe little man even made an appearance!undefinedundefinedundefinedThe dancing quickly went into full swing & this is one of my favorite shots of the night! Guy was a wild man on the dance floor, in general, but his karate kicks were the highlight of his dancing! He actually teaches karate, making this an even better moment from the night!undefinedundefinedundefinedSarah and Guy work at Dedham Health and Athletic Complex and many of the bridal party members and guests were somehow connected to there! It was a super fun bunch (and super in shape group – haha!!). They were also big time dancers! The guy in the cargo shorts is actually one of the groomsmen… After a bunch of dancing, he couldn’t take the sweat anymore so he quickly went up to his room, showered, changed and returned to party some more!undefinedundefinedundefinedSarah and Guy – thank you for allowing me to be part of your day and thank you so much for your kind words below! I wish you both the best and can’t wait to share the whole gallery with you!

Sarah & Guy

What was the most memorable moment of your day?

My most memorable moment was hearing my entrance song and turning to my Step-father and saying “Okay, shut it off, there will be NO crying.” No sooner did I take my first step and I felt the amazing warmth of the day and I saw blue skies, green grass, my white dress, and the tears began to flow! I will never forget telling myself to walk slow and take in every moment of this. All the while seeing my future husbands tears as he stood proudly watching me walk towards him!

What was your favorite detail?

I was not too into details of the reception but more into personal details. I must say that my “something blue” was a borrowed idea from a friend who had “I Do” blue stickers on the bottoms of her shoes. I took a spin of that and put the same stickers on the bottom of my shoes but they said “Mrs. C.”  I also fell in love with my husband’s gift that I gave him. It was a pocket watch with a picture of his parents on their wedding day in it. I did not know this until later but he had it in his pocket the whole day so in a way, his parents were there with us!

 Any advice for future brides/grooms?

YES! Listen to what people say about the day going by so fast! It is TRUE! I am so happy that I took that advise to heart and absorbed every moment of it! Also, the smartest thing you can do is invest in an amazing photographer. I think this is the most important piece. It’s not about being airbrushed to look perfect or have fake backgrounds. It is about someone being able to capture the happiness in your eyes and smile and having those memories to look back on as the years go by. I can’t thank you enough, Heather!!

Funniest memory from your wedding day?

Um, My husband doing karate kicks on the dance floor and the bottom of his shoe coming within INCHES of Heather’s camera was one for the books! Also, my mother trying to leave the dance floor during a surprise Dance that my sisters and I organized for her! We began the dance and a few moments into it she says “okay, my feet are tired” and tries to leave! We were all like “Hello…Mom we did this for YOU, you can’t leave!!” haha! That was a good one!

If you could do it all over, would you change anything?

Absolutely nothing. Even with tiny imperfections, they all made the day perfect. My life is not flawless, so I wouldn’t expect my wedding day to be! At the end of the day, there was nothing major that happened to effect my day so don’t sweat the small stuff! The small imperfections make the best memories!

Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Aruba baby!!
